Ashlegh Scase is not only an artist but a crafter and avid writer. she has worked with a range of mediums but her forte is definitely the realm of craft and textile-based art, but that is not to say she doesn't enjoy experimenting. In the past, she has worked a lot with text and how word without image alters the outlook in the gallery, not only has she experimented with this through her work but it was the main focus of her BA(Hons) dissertation. More recently Scase has been exploring the relationship between the gallery and what we may see as the non-traditional and lesser art forms, such as craft and how it can be made contemporary, current and deserving of the high value that other art forms hold. Her current themes include the environmental and process, giving craft a new light, removing the femininity and hopefully bridging the gap between the man-made and hand-made
